Nissan Repair: car heater/ac, car heater, fan switch

Hello,

I've a '98 Altima. The problem is that the fan switch (pot) has gone bad and it only runs when kept at position 4. The fan does not run at 1, 2 or 3. How do I replace it? Also, I dont know how to open up the AC/heater unit from the front.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Replace the blower resistor.  It is under the dash on the passenger side and that is what the current flows through from the controls.  The resistors burn out and it fails.  Purchase a new one and you will see what you are replacing.  A real common problem.  And, super easy to change.
