Nissan Repair: Nissan Pathfinder turbo diesel wont start, nissan terrano, diesel treatment

My girfriend has a 1997 Nissan Terrano (JDM)/Pathfinder 3.2 turbo diesel auto that will not start. From what she has told me (i'm out of town - great timing!)after waiting for the glow plug heat light to go out as per normal the engine will turn over but not fire.  The tank is 1/3 full and the car was working fine the day before this happened.  Would appreciate your help/comments.

A dirty fuel filter will cause this as will bad diesel.  I would get a bottle of diesel treatment and put it in and try to start it.  I would not recommend her using starting fluid to get things kicked off unless you get someone that has done it before.  Once started I would go and purchase a full tank of good diesel.
