What is the propper way to remove the rear struts from a 1990 Maxima for strut replacement?

Jack up the car and support it with jack stands and then remove the struts as they are like a coil over.  But, once you remove them you will need the spring compressor for struts.  So, if you remove the strut from the car you will either need the tool and the experience or take it to a machine shop that has the tool.  Remember that the spring can kill you if it unloads in your direction so it is nothing to play with.
