Nissan Repair: 1998 Nissan Pathfinder, mass air flow sensor, air flow sensor
QuestionHello, This is my third time emailing you and I am still having issues with my 98 Nissan pathfinder. Here it comes. First I spent about $1200.00 at the dealership and they replaced the fuel pump, the Distributor rotor (shaft) cleaned the injectors and replaced the fuel filter. Car ran fine for about a month then the Service Engine light came on and I went ahead and purchased an ODB II code reader and I am getting P1444 twice the second one says pnd. I went ahead and replaced the EGR valve and the fuel cap and the Charcoal Canister. I am still getting that code P1444 on and p1444 pnd. I also just got another code P0100 which is the Mass Air flow Sensor. I went ahead and priced the Mass Air Flow Sensor (Rebuilt) for $134.44. Do you recommend that I replace this myself and what can I do to get rid of that Pesky P1444 code? I don't know what else to replace. Thank you.
Sincerely
Frank Aguirre
AnswerFrancis,
That is good for you that you have a code reader now. Sesond, you can replace the MAS easy. It is a plug and play operation. Disconnect the battery first since that is what they say to do in the service manual. On the P1555 you have a laeky hose or a clamp that is loose. Check the hoses for cracks and this means those at the tank and the canister and the fuel fill. There is a leak and a small one so it is going to be difficult to find. I say this since you have already replaced the canister and cap.
