Nissan Repair: 1991 Nissan Fuel Problem, combustion fuel, pressure fuel
QuestionI recently changed out 3 of my injectors - took them to NAPA and had all checked. Did not replace the injector pump.
Replaced all parts and hoses. Car will not start - no combustion. When I put the clutch in, you can hear the fuel pump whine for a second or two and then stop (never did that before). Tach moves slightly during turnover. Distributor wire is OK. There is spark.
After several attempts at turn over, I stop. After a while I will try again, and I get a brief (1 second) of combustion.
Fuel is pumping, but I do not know pressure.
Fuel pump problem? Especially now that there is a loud whine?
Thanks, J.R.
AnswerJR,
Pull the fuel lines off the rail and get a coffee can and then have someone wiht a fire extinguisher at the ready and turn the key on to see what the volume of fuel is. If there is no fuel then you need a pump. If it does not fill the can in about 15 seconds then you need a pump. Be sure to change the fuel filter first.
