Nissan Repair: 95 Quest speedometer, vehicle speed sensor, battery cable

Speedometer stopped working. Is it mechanical or electric, what is the probable cause and how difficult of a repair might it be.

The speedometer is electric and the vehicle speed sensor is located on the transmission.  The part is under $100 bucks and it is a breeze to change.  Buy one and disconnect the battery to change it.  Then put the battery cable back on and you should be back in business.
