First you need a timing gun
a manual
you make sure you hook up the timing light to the specs of the manual.

Then it's just a matter of starting your car, shine the timing light on the bottom pully, then loosen the bolt on the distributor, turn the distributor until the two lines on the pully line up.

YOU NEED A MANUAL. To tell you what the timing is suppose to be at.
