Brake fluid renewal?

How to Renew Brake Fluid

Brake fluid is a hydraulic fluid that transfers force from the brake master cylinder to the brake calipers and wheel cylinders. It is essential for the proper functioning of your vehicle's braking system.

Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, which can lead to corrosion of the brake system components and reduced braking performance. It is recommended to renew brake fluid every 2 years or 30,000 miles, whichever comes first.

To renew brake fluid, you will need the following tools and materials:

* A brake fluid bleeder kit

* A new bottle of DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid

* A funnel

* A hose

* A wrench

* Safety glasses

Instructions:

1. Park your vehicle on a level surface. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.

2. Open the hood of your vehicle.

3. Locate the brake master cylinder. It is usually a cylindrical reservoir with a black cap.

4. Remove the cap from the brake master cylinder.

5. Attach the brake fluid bleeder hose to the bleeder screw on the brake caliper or wheel cylinder.

6. Open the bleeder screw.

7. Use the wrench to turn the bleeder screw until the old brake fluid starts to come out.

8. Continue to pump the brake pedal until the old brake fluid is completely replaced with new brake fluid.

9. Close the bleeder screw.

10. Repeat steps 5-9 for each brake caliper or wheel cylinder.

11. Add new brake fluid to the brake master cylinder until it reaches the "full" mark.

12. Replace the cap on the brake master cylinder.

13. Test your brakes to make sure they are working properly.

Tips:

* Be sure to use the correct type of brake fluid for your vehicle.

* Do not mix different types of brake fluid.

* If you spill any brake fluid on your skin or clothes, wash it off immediately with soap and water.

* Brake fluid is harmful if ingested. Keep it out of reach of children.

By following these instructions, you can safely renew your brake fluid and keep your vehicle's braking system functioning properly.
