Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 99 Intrigue AC Not Working, dual climate, climate control

I have a 99 Intrigue GL (3.5L) with the dual climate control.  The AC is not working.  When I press the AC button, the light flashes a few times and stays off.  What does this mean?

I would recommend taking it to a repair shop and have the A/C system checked for freon charge level.
If low, I would ask them to add dye to system, recharge it and use it until it goes out again, or a month or so, let the dye exit the system.
The dye will then be able to be seen with a black light and source of leak.
They will also be able to diagnose the switch, just in case. The data on a scan tool can help with this diagnosis. If the request button is changing status, the switch is good.
