You must be kidding. I would never suggest that you TRY and get thie adjusted by EYE. Get the front end aligned and save yourself and your tires alot of grief.
No, actually I wasn't kidding. I recall adjusting toe-in at the track was part of the setup procedures for autocrossing. Trammel bars were used and were quite accurate.

AnswerI remember those bars also and they are NOT that accurate compared to today's electronic alignment machines.
I still have my old front end tools and would not even consider using them as a FINAL adjustment.
