Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: 95 regal dies for no reason, buick regal, service engine soon light
QuestionHi,
I have a 95 buick regal with 130,000. It dies while Im driving sometimes. Without warning it will just shut off, if I leave it sitting for a while sooner or later it will start up again then be just fine. I'll drive it again for a while and out of the blue it will start dying again. Seems to go in spurts. Usually the service engine soon light comes on, runs rough for a minute or two then just dies. Once while I was on the hwy doing about 75mph! Is this a common problem in buicks? The computer shows no codes afterwards either. Just replaced the starter module. didn't fix the problem. Any ideas?
AnswerHello Cindy,
You could have a temperature induced intermittent open in an electronic device,
You could also have a loose wire connection.
Here is another possibility that would be extremely cheap to check out.
If the gas tank is having a vacuum form inside that starves the engine. Try loosening the gas cap when it sounds like it is going to die, or immediately after it dies, and see if a large amount of air passes the cap. Then try to start it.
You could just need a new gas cap.
