Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: gas gauge needle at 8 oclock, buick park avenue, gauge needle

I have a 98 buick park avenue 3800 engine, the gas gauge needle at 8 oclock, how can I reset gauge to correct reading?

hi dave,well mostlikely the fuel sender has stuck or broke if so replace it .normally you can bang on fuel tank not hard, and watch see if guage if it moves replace sender.if not possible guage prob try and disconnect neg batt cable for 3 mins maybe this will reset good luck please rate my help ty billymac
