Oldsmobile/Buick Repair: water pump removal and replacement, gm 3800 engine, buick le sabre

Gm 3800 engine on a 92 Buick Le Sabre --  Can the water pump be put back on the engine with a 1/4-1/2  inch shorter bolt so that in the future the pump can be replaced without taking the engine mount off?

I appologize for not answering the question sooner.
I was out of town, and signed out on vacation, but the All Experts system let me down, and didn't get my vacation posted.
As for the bolt, I don't know, but if you check to be sure that everything gets pulled up tight, I can't see where it would hurt.
But by the time it needs another water pump, it may need a motormount anyway.
