Pontiac Repair: coolant elbow

Do you have to remove manifold cover to replace the coolant elbow?  I have a 2006 Pontiac grand prix 3.8L.

no you don't have to remove the manifold to replace it. you can just remove the serpentine belt tension bracket and replace the elbow that way. actually you can replace both of them there is a big one and a small one on that tensioner bracket assembly. good luck :)
