Power steering stopped working on 2000 Pontiac Grand AM, V6, 3400

it's 1 of 2 things. prior to it quiting was there any whine noise or jerky steering? if so there is a leak in the system un it's low on fluid. Or the input shaft in the steering pump snapped off. with out seeing it I can't tell you for sure what the issue is,
