Pontiac Repair: Engine Light on 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix, pontiac grand prix, auto parts stores

All fluid levels and belts are fine.  The engine went on and has stayed off even after checking all of the above and installing a new air filter.  What else should be checked or is there a reset for this problem.

Hi there:

well first off I would stop at one of the big box auto parts stores and have them scan the car for codes. They do it for free. see what code(S) are stored and go from there. with out knowing what the lamp is on for it's impossable for me to tell you what is wrong with the car. there are literally 100's of trouble codes that can be stored in a car so it has to be narrowed down. good luck :)
