Pontiac Repair: pontiac grand am starter, swotch, pontiac grand am

I put a new starter in a 99 pontiac grand am, and after the engine is started you can hear the starter whining and after a bit it starts to smoke.

Well either the ignition swotch is bad and it is keeping the starter in the crank postion Not Very likley or the starter solenoind is sticking and keeping the starter running VERY likely. Replace the starter as an assembly with the solenoid and DON NOT but a cheap one buy one from a good parts store like NAPA or Carquest. Good luck :)
