Pontiac Repair: Firebird not running smoothly..., firebird formula, fuel pressure

My 1996 Firebird Formula has a 350 c.i. V8.  Sometimes it tends to take a while to start.  When the engine is cold there is a very loud squeaking noise (i think from oil dripping on it? but from where?).  Anyways, while I'm accelerating it tends to be very jerky.  The car will basically halt for a split second and keep accelerating.  It also seems to have trouble at idle.  I was driving it recently and it seemed as if the engine just died.  

Any insight to any of that would be great.

Hey Colin:

This could be any number of things any service engine soon lights on? It could be an ignition system problem like the coil or bad distributor assembly to a bad plug wire or spark plug. It could be a fuel problem like plugged fuel injector or low fuel pressure. I can't be of much more help more. good luck :)
