Anyways I can't find my key and if I can't find it how much would it be to have it replaced? I am finding random prices from ppl online those who go to a dealer pay hundreds and if they call a locksmith for some it is like 20$. So if you know please get back to me asap. Thank You!
AnswerHi
If you go to a dealership parts department to get a new key cut from the VIN, you'll need AT LEAST 2 proofs of ownership of either the title, regestration and/or current proof of insurance and drivers license.
I do not know about other dealerships, but mine only charges the price of the key. What that is for your car, I dont know I am not a parts specialist.
Some dealerships charge a "look up" fee, and I have heard horror stories of $50.00 or more.
It should be a free service to look up, all they do is look up key code from GM, BUT a small fee MAY be charged.
Call a few dealerships and see what they require and prices.
As far as mechanical or electrical, the new key should work fine, there will be no issues with security or theft deterrent.
I cannot answer for or about locksmiths. See if experts has a locksmith section.
I Hope this helps
