Pontiac Repair: 1998 pontiac grand prix gtp, pontiac grand prix, boost gauge

My car starts and sometimes run in idle.  If i put it in gear the rpm drops and if i step on the gas the engine shuts of my boost gauge would go up but no power.  It feels as though the engine is loosing power when i step on the gas.  there is also a clicking noise in the alternator area.

This is what I would check if iot was in my shop.
I would first check and or recommend a major tune up
(Delco Plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, air filter, fuel injector flush.)
I would then check and watch fuel pressure when vehicle is acting up. Make sure pressure is constant.
If these check out  I would HIGHLY suspect the Catalytic Converter. You can take it to a good exhaust shop and have them check it for sure.
Just advice from experience.
