Pontiac Repair: 93 Bonneville, alternator output, voltmeter

Voltage on car went into the high red area.  What should I look for? thanks

Voltage regulator stuck on inside Alt. will cause this
Best advice is to check the Alternator output with a voltmeter when problem is occuring, to make sure it is actually overcharging. It could then just be a gauge fault.
You could also take the Alternator off and have it checked by a Starter and Alternator shop in your area, they could bench load it.
