Porsche Repair: Whining alternator, porsche repair, porsche dealer

Sir,

I was wondering if you could give me some direction towards fixing my whining alternator !! The whining pitch changes as I accelerate and stops when freewheeling. The porsche dealer has quoted me over $1500 to fix. Is there any quick fixes to this or is another alt required.

You need to provide Year Make & Model.
If it is a 996 or 986, we see the belt rollers going bad, Water Pumps making noise, and alternator's. If it is the alternator, find a good Independent Porsche repair shop. You should be able to save some money.

Check with the Porsche club PCA to find a shop.
