RV Repair: Awning Lock, front teeth, down position
QuestionHi, I recently purchased a Sandpiper 23' TT by Forest River with a 16' A&E Awning by Dometic. When rolling the awning down (In the down position) the awning failed to lock open. I wiggled the up/down release device to no avail, the awning rolls up by itself and will roll down but not lock in place in the down position like all my previous RVs. HELP
Thanks

AnswerHi Peter. The torsion assembly need to be replaced. The new one has a redesigned torsion lock that has much more positive locking switch. This is not a job for the faint of heart. The torsion is spring loaded and there is a procedure that must be fallowed to replace it. You want to avoid loosing your front teeth. :-) Good Luck.
