RV Repair: PUTTING A TARP OVER THE TRAILER ROOF, degree temperatures, rubber roof
QuestionTwo months ago I re-coated my trailer roof. Too keep the dew, leaves and everyting else off I purchased a grey color tarp and now keep it covered. With the 100 degree temperatures we are now having, will the high temperature between the tarp and rubber roof cause a problem to the roof and seals around the fixtures?
With the windows on the trailer open a few inches for circulation, the inside of the trailer also get's very warm.

AnswerHaving the tarp on is a good idea. Not only will it actually provide shade in a way, but also will help protect the roof from UV rays that can dry out sealants as well as other items on the roof. The only "problem" I have with a tarp is that they have a tendancy to rub when the wind blows and I have see them rub the paint and finish off as well as rub plastics thin or scratch them.
