RV Repair: leaking toilet, flange gasket, leaking toilet

We just purchased a 1987 Fleetwood Jamboree that appears that the toilet might be leaking since the carpet both in front and behind the toilet is wet. We never noticed this till we took a short trip and used the toilet.  Any suggestions on what this might be and ways to fix the problem.  My husband thinks that it might be a gasket that has gotten hard and leaks when flushing..... does this sound possible?  Thank you!!!

Yes If this unit holds water  it is very possible that the flange gasket and or blade seals are bad. If it does not hold water in the bowl and leaks when flushed then you may have a bad gasket at the floor, most of these gaskets are rubber or foam and can be easily replaced.
