Saturn Repair: Gear Ratio, ground circuits, powertrain control

My boyfriend just installed a remote car started in my 1997 saturn Now, the engine light is on and the code for the light is P0732, which I found out means incorrect gear ration, in the second gear. How do I fix this?

Well, a couple of possibilities.  First, he might have tapped into a wire that leads to the valve body actuator plate.  This is a square connector that plugs into the top of the transmission right behind the battery (under the mess of brake lines/master cylinder)  None of these wires should be used for power or ground circuits.   
Second, make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight.  Unless you have had a major transmission overhaul recently, you should not see a P0732.  Double-check your power and ground circuits on the remote starter to make sure that it does not interfere with any of the vehicle's powertrain control systems.  Hope this helps!
