Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): starter problem

I have the same trouble as Dave my starter has reversed it polarity  and all I did was hooked up battery charger ,I thought it might be solenoid so I went and bought anew one still runs backwards what can I do?

Did your battery switch polarity?

Never saw a starter reverse polarity...but have saw batteries switch polarity.

I would have the battery load tested at you local auto parts store or Batteries Plus before doing anything else.

Let me know if the battery tests good.
