Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): siezed up engine or not, craftsman lawn mower, little smoke

while cutting my grass with my zero turn craftsman lawn mower  my engine just stopped. there was a little smoke not much. now the motor wont turn over  by hand or key . seized up

Answer
I would start taking external parts off the engine.  I'd start the top engine sheet metal or cover.  I would also dis-connect the belts.  As you remove parts keep trying to turn the engine by hand.

I would remove the spark plug(s) first and see if the engine will turn.  Leave the spark plug(s) out while working on the engine.
