I have an older Craftsman Brushwacker, model 636-796233.  Do you know where I can get an "air" filter for it?

Apparently it is no longer available from Sears.

You can also take the trimmer to you local small engine dealer and find a filter you can use to make one.  The basic foam filter will work but you will probalbly have to cut it to fit and may have to stack a couple of filters together to get it to fit.
