Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): scotts mower, decent link, transaxle

I have a scotts mower model 46580x8a serial number s001926730408. It will engage only occasionly in forward. Make a bit of a noise when I attempt to engage. Is this a murray or a john deere and where could I find a tranny for it if need be. Thanks

How old is the mower?  It's a Murray.  Below is the link to the parts diagram.

According to the parts list you have a Tecumseh/Peerless VST205-023B.  Below is the service manual link but it basically says there are 2 pumps, some oil and it is not a servicable transaxle.

Look throught the links and you might find a service kit for that model...seems I remember a service kit...I'll check the file cabinet.
