17,5 B.S. in riding mower , starts when gas is poured in carb but dies in seconds . gas going to carb, air filter clean ,new fuel filter

Is there an anti-afterfire solenoid on the carburetor?  If there are wires running to the carb you have an anti-afterfire solenoid.

 Is the solenoid recieving power and working?  Do you have a fuel pump? Has the carburetor been cleaned?  Is the gas in the fuel tank and you gas cans less than 30 days old?
