my headlights work when the key is in the light position but not in the run position ???   model# 38608X92C

That is normal as most cutting is done during the day. This gives you a option to tun the lights on so it is not a constant drain on the battery saves power for the rest of the electrical system.If you have a optional plow installed then you can use it at night,or if you are cutting the lawn and it gets dark it will help you finish or get your way back.Why would you want lights on during the day?
