Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Spark plug, brampton ontario canada, tecumseh engine

Hello and thank you for your advice. I purchased a used a dual stage,snowblower, manufactured by Outdoor products in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Their website no longer seems to be functioning. The snowblower has a 8 HP Tecumseh engine - the cut of the machine is 26 inches. I've had it running once  and when I did it ran so hot that the muffler glowed red. My neighbor says that it has to do with wrong spark plug being used. How do I determine the correct spark plug for this engine? Thank you and have a great day!

You neighbor is incorrect,the reason the muffler is getting hot is that the engine timing is messed up.a spark plug can not make a engine by itself get that hot,send me the complete engine model & spec & and any other numbers on the engine then I can help you better.
