Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): briggs wont rev up, briggs stratton, carbuerator
QuestionI have a Briggs & Stratton 18hp 31H777 0202 type E1. It seems to run fine but will hardly rev past idle speed. I have cleaned the carbuerator, set the valves and set the governor, runs maybe a little smoother now but still at approx. 1/2 power. I have also checked the throttle cable and it seems to be fine. Please help this is very frustrating!
AnswerDid you check the governor spring? Does the carburetor fly shaft bind? I have had some carb butterfly shafts wear and cause them not to open and close properly.
How old is the engine? The first two digits of the code number indicate the year the engine was manufactured.
Let me know.
