Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Hard Crank B&S 16hp, ohv engines, compression release

Question
I've read that B&S OHV engines have issues with a compression unloader lobe on the cam.  Is this true?  I have a four year old B&S that runs great after it starts.  I replaced the battery and starter thinking they had issues.  STUPID ME !!  WHAT TO DO  ...  My wife wants another tractor if I can't make it GO.

They did have a problem yes....I dont see it to often anymore in the shop, but if I suspect it, the first thing i do is a valve clearence adjustment and if that doesnt work I have to replace the camshaft which contains the compression release you are referring to.
