Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): snowblower, http www google, throttle linkage

I havea gran prix (noma) 8hp snowblower and it runs fine but the throttle cable does nothing, if I do it manually by moving the throttle it revs fine, but while in use no good,  was wondering if there was a manual I could get that would tell me how the cable should be properly placed?

No manual that I am aware of.  Here is a picture, should be similar if not exactly like your engine as this throttle connection was very common from the 70's to the late 90's.
