Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Toro LX420 riding tractor wont start, flywheel, solenoid

Question
When I turn the key all I hear is a clunking sound from the solenoid.  I put in a new battery and a new solenoid but still same problem.  Would a bad spark plug cause the same problem.  I haven't check it yet as its a job getting to the plug.

I don't believe a spark plug will fix your problem. You should check if power is getting to the starter when you turn the key. If so, you may have a bad starter. It is also possible your starter is stuck in the flywheel, try turning the flywheel back and forth to free it up.
