I have model 917.272454  with Briggs %26 Stratton model # 445777-0129e1-001109yh    my boyfriend will be reworking the motor,  he hasnt opened it yet, but thinks the crankshaft is brook, if it is what do we need to watch for,  like gaskets %26 ect. Please tell us as much as you can about reworking this motor     thanks  Pat

First of all, if the crankshaft is broken, it's not worth fixing. I really doubt the crankshaft is broken, you may mean the connecting rod, if so, there is much cleaning to do, as there is probably small peices of the rod all over inside. If he has never done this before, you will want to keep track of how things go back together so it's reassembled corectly.
