Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Monygomery Wards Tractor No Spark, montgomery wards, grounding wire

Question
I have an old montgomery wards tractor with an 18 hp twin cylinder motor. model 422707 type 151001. I had no spark disconnected grounding wire from coil still had no spark. Bought new coil, installed and still have no spark with grounding wire disconnected. I can hold wires in hand an no jolt at all. Any ideas to what might be wrong?

 can you let me know  other numbers of  engine covers    ie 422707-0151-??    ????????

can you tell me wether the coil you had   had a trigger module fitted between coil leg and coil  

or if there was a gap between each mounting leg and the coil winding

if  so  your unit porberly has points    and they will be your problem if your engine has them ?
you should see a rectangular shape cover and under this cover will be the point set
