Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): honda 2hp 4 stroke, honda engines, valve clearances

My honda 2hp 4 stroke pumps water at low speeds but stops when running at high speed, is this normal?

no  

sounds like load exceeding power output or  you have tight valve clearances or  a restricted main jet or carby problem   check the oil level  it may be low and be shutting down  

check fuel flow from tank to carb  , then at the fuel bowl

assuming compression an spark re ok since you say  runs but stops at hi speed

might pay to check carby for obstruction in jets / passages etc

give oil change

check that governor springs are in place and governor is working

is air filter clean
