Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Stihl FS 44 trimmer, gunk, carburetor

It's hard to start.. pump primer @ 20 times,I see gas and air moving in return line to tank (seems to be pulling air thru carb throat) then pull cord 10-15 times. when started it runs great.

Sounds Like the Carburetor Needs to be Removed, Disassembled and Soaked Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner (I use Gunk). Then Blow Out the Passages with Compressed Air. Install a New Kit if Required. The Pulse Pump Needle is Sticking and Either Flooding or Starving the Engine of gas. Hope this Helps.
