QuestionI have a 17 hp, 42 in. cut. Model #13AN683G163, Serial #1LO32B40256. Purchased in 2003. Have replaced starter, battery, battery cables, fuel filter, fuel, and cleaned negative battery connection to the frame, cleaned pos. and neg connections at battery and are tight. Cranked 3 days ago, ran for 2 hours, no missing noted, but not able to crank again since turned off that day. Flywheel will not turn complete revolutions. Positive battery cable that connects to starter becomes very warm after repeated starting attempts. Can you help?

CAN YOU LET ME KNOW MODEL - TYPE NUMBER OF ENGINE
I SUSPECT BRIGGS OHV MODEL /
IF SO SOUNDS LIKE YOU MAY HAVE DECOMPRESSION PROBLEM
TRY RESETTING INLET VALVE CLEARANCE TO 0.003" AND EXHAUST TO 0.005'
@ 1/4 INCH PAST TDC ON POWER STROKE THIS REMOVES DECOMPRESSOR LIFT FROM VALVE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT
MAKE SURE PUSH RODS ARE STRAIGHT , BOTTOM VALVE IS INTAKE AS VIEWD FRONT OF ENGINE WITH BONNET AND ROCKER COVER OFF AND THE TOP VALVE IS THE EXHAUST
INLET PUSH ROD ROD IS ALLOY AND EXHUAST PUSH ROD IS STEEL
ARE YOU SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD GROUND CONNECTION FOR ENGINE AND CABLE BACK TO BATTERY ?
POOR GROUNDING CAN CAUSE EXCESSIVE CURRENT DRAW TOO
TRY ADJUSTING VALVES 1ST
