QuestionI have a RCM 2-stroke 50cc moped, and it has trouble pulling away from an intersection, and won't move at all if starting on a hill. The motor rev's when you give it gas, but the moped won't move, even at full throttle. I have to push it when accelerating from a stop to get it rolling, but once I get going, it runs fine on a level plane and on some hills.
AnswerHI MARK
SOUNDS LIKE YOU NEED TO CHECK THE CVT DRIVE BELT AND THE PRIMARY CLUTCH ( ON CRANKSHAFT)
AND CHECK SECONDARY CLUTCH ( @ OTHER END )
MAKE SURE THAT THE SECONDARY CLUTCH FACE CAN MOVE IN AND OUT AS NEEDED ( THIS CLUTCH CONTROLS DOWN SHIFT , MAKE SURE BELT IS NOT BURNED , STRETCHED / DAMAGED IF IT IS REPLACE IT
MAKE SURE THAT THE PRIMARY CLUTCH IS MOVING INWARD AS REVS RISE AND THE CVT BELT SHOULD GET PUSHED TOWARD THE OUTER PERIMETER AS REVS INCREASE ( AT SAME TIME AS BELT MOVES TO OUTER PERIMETER ON THE FRONT CLUTCH -THE REAR CLUTCH FACE SHOULD MOVE OUTWARDS AND THE BELT SHOULD TRAVEL TOWARD THE MIDDLE OFF THE CLUTCH
IF THIS IS HAPPENING BUT NONE TOO WELL I WOULD REPLACE THE BELT , AND THE SIX ROLLER WEIGHTS IN THE PRIMARY CLUTCH - THESE MAY NOT BE THROWING OUT FAR ENOUGH OR ARE WORN AND THE PRIMARY CLUTCH IS SLIPPING THESE PARTS ARE NOT THAT EXPENSIVE AND ARE PRIMARY PARTS IN THE SYSTEM
MIGHT PAY FOR YOUR LOCAL MOTORCYCLE SHOP TO TAKE A LOOK AS IT CAN BE TRICKY GETTING THING OFF AND ON CORRECTLY
NOTE IF CVT BELT KEEP BREAKING ITS USUALLY THE REAR CLUTCH AT FAULT
NOTE IF THE BIKE REVS AND SEEMS LIKE HAS LOW POWER AND TROUBLE GETTING OFF THE LINE
I SUSPECT ITS TRYING TO START OFF IN HIGH RATION HENCE BELT AND ROLLER WEIGHTS CHANGE OUT SUGGESTION
CHEERS HOPE IT HELPS
