QuestionI bought this saw in 1998. I recently broke the chain sprocket and need to know how to remove clutch and sprocket for replacement.
AnswerHI RUSSELL
1ST REMOVE PLUG , THEN USE USE WHAT I CALL A A SOFT STOP IN THE PLUG HOLE ( THIS IS JUST A PIECE OF 5 OR 6 MM NYLON STARTER ROPE FOLDED OVER ) AND PLACED INTO PLUG HOLE AND INTO CYLINDER SO THAT THE PISTON PUSHES ONTO IT AND CAUSES IT TO STOP PISTON FROM ROLLING PAST TDC
SET CYLINDER SO THAT THE PISTON IS NEAR TDC AND INSERT NYLON ROPE , CONTINUE ROTATION SO THAT PISTON IS JAMMED ONTO NYLON ROPE - REMOVE CHAIN COVER AND BAR AND CHAIN , USE A SOLID FLAT PUNCH , AND WITH A HAMMER PUNCH THE CLUTCH UNIT CLOCKWISE ( THREADS ARE L/H ) SO IT UNDOES CLOCKWISE - GIVE ONE OR TWO DECENT HITS , CLUTCH WILL COME LOOSE , REMOVE CLUTCH AND DRUM
KEEP PARTS IN CORRECT RELATION SHIP
IE NEEDLE BRG, DRUM, SPACER WASHER ( UNDER CLUTCH INSIDE DRUM )THEN CLUTCH ITSELF
REASSEMBLY IS THE REVERSE OF DISAEMBLY
