Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Pull cord for a McCullouch Chainsaw, starter rope, mccullouch

My neighbor brought a 16" McCulloch MS1635 chainsaw 35cc over to help cut up a fallen tree. After a while, he attempted to restart the saw, pulled the cord but the cord did not retract. He swore several times, then removed the assembly with the cord and eventually tried to rewind the metal coil.... that was a mess. He is very handy, I am not, I feel I should get him the parts so he can fix his saw. I want to order the correct parts, but am not sure where to get them or exactly what to order. He said no one nearby sells McCulloch and I would rather buy on-line if possible. Any suggestion you can offer would be great.  Thanks
