Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&S primer button, simplicity snow blower, blown away
QuestionMy 8 hp B&S Simplicity snow blower came with a black rubber primer button, but it has worn off and blown away. I think it's sucking air now. New assemblies are over $30 so I'm thinking I'll just bypass the primer because it starts OK without it.
Do I just plug the two gas lines to/from the primer assembly, or should I connect them?
David
AnswerHi David,
The primer button replacement should not be $30 or over. I replaced a primer button on my Toro for about $6-$7. In any case it is not a good idea to plug those lines from and to the primer.
It is designed to provide the additional gas for starting. Yes the unit will function for now without the primer, but that doesn't mean you will never need the primer. I would suggest to pay the price on replacing the primer button and you will not have trouble down the road.
Cheers,
Howard
Ps. Let me know how it goes.
