Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Drive belt compatibility, hp engines, deck length

I went to home depot to try and get a drive belt for my scotts by John Deere S1642 JD's part# is: GX10851, they could not pull that up, and their stock was packed away due to the end of season.

we have snow coming and I NEED TO GET 1 MORE CUT BEFORE SNOW!

They gave me a POWER CARE BELT FOR A 42" DECK PART#  AND IT SAYS THAT IT REPLACES: O.E.# 754-0349 AND O.E.# 112-0317.

My belt snapped and SHREDDED so I can't match length's.

is there a way of telling if it will work?
