Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 20 hp briggs & stratton, engine model type, briggs stratton

I have a 20 hp briggs & stratton huskee 46" lawn tractor sold around 2001.  After mowing for a while it chokes and dies and will not restart until the mower has completely cooled i.e. the next morning.  It seems to have no spark after it dies but fuel is still flowing.  I suspect the coil but am unsure.  Any thoughts?

What is the engine model, type and code nubmer?  Some Briggs, mainly Vanguard V twins, have a diode harness that sometimes fail.

You need to check all the safety switched or check the coil to know which one is bad.  I had a mower with poor connections on the seat safety harness that had a similar problem.  Took me forever to find the problem.  Finally, after lots of mowing and trouble shooting I tracked down the problem.  Ended up soldering the seat safety switch connections and never saw the mower again.

Send the engine model, type and code number so I can look up your ignition system.
