Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): craftsman mower will start and then dies, nozzle, lawn mower

this is a 6.0 horsepower, 21" multi-cut rotary lawn mower.  model #
917.388720, serial # 021601M054711.

we prime it, it starts on the first pull and immediately dies.

you have either a plugged main nozzle or old fuel in your system.  If you know you have fresh fuel, by fresh fuel i mean less then 14 days old- then you need to clean the carb inlet nozzle and tube,

Sometimes its cheaper to replace the carb then to try to repair it.
