Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Starter?, jumper cable, battery terminal
Question
the part i'm attemptin
we have a Snapper SR140 12.5HP 33' series 11 lawnmower, the recycling model. Mod # 3312511BE Ser #25361175
I believe that i turned the start key to many times when it wouldn't turn on, and now, it doesn't turn on anymore, i think it might be the starter, if it's useful, there is a number printed on it that reads:9203094. How much would a replacement part cost.
Answer
Snapper used at least 3 different engine manufacturers, and any one
of them would have a new starter costing over $100 at least.
You need to remove the battery first, and have it tested, as that might be the only problem, as well as just a dirty connection.
With a good battery, then just take a jumper cable off the positive battery terminal, and touch it to the starter's terminal. If it
cranks, then your starter is fine, but don't do it too much.
Let me know what you find as well as the engine's model numbers.
